North York General Hospital is a top-tier community academic hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto that provides high-quality acute, ambulatory, primary and long-term care across seven sites to a population of 500,000. NYGH has one the highest volume Emergency Departments in the GTA and one of the busiest birthing centres in Ontario. NYGH is a core partner in the North York Toronto Health Partners (Ontario Health Team), a partnership between more than 50 organizations working to create a more connected health system in North York.

NYGH Land Acknowledgement

North York General Hospital acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of many Indigenous nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, The Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that North York is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.

General Site

Our largest facility, the General site, offers a full range of services to patients of all ages, from the most fragile infants to the elderly. All inpatient acute care services are located at the General site. Our 24-hour full service Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg Emergency, is one of Canada’s busiest emergency departments.
